Importing goods into France involves several steps and requirements. Here’s a general overview to help you get started:

  1. Register and obtain an Economic Operator Registration and Identification (EORI) number.
  2. Customs Declaration:For goods value exceed EUR 1000, you need to submit a Single Administrative Document (SAD) along with accompanying documents.
  3. The Import Control System (ICS) requires an Entry Summary Declaration (ENS) to be submitted to customs before goods enter the EU.
  4. Customs Duties and Taxes: Goods must be declared at their actual value, and applicable duties and taxes must be paid upon arrival.
  5. Specific Import Procedures: Some goods, such as medicines, waste, plants, or live animals, may have additional formalities.

Imports

  • The importer must have a valid EORI number
  • Imported goods must be accompanied with an International Waybill, a Commercial Invoice, and a Packing List
  • HS Codes can be be stated clearly on the Commercial Invoice.

  • Original Commercial Invoice
  • Importer EORI number

 

Import Duties and Fees

  • The customs valuation is based on CIF (Cost, Insurance and Freight)
  • Customs tariff applicable on imported goods depend on HS Codes

 

Exports

Required documents:

  • Original Commercial Invoice
  • Customs Declarations if goods’ valued at or above EUR 1,000.
  • For certain goods, a export license is required.
