Importing goods into Greece involves several key steps and considerations:

  1. Import Licenses: Depending on the type of goods, you may need specific import licenses. For example, certain food products, pharmaceuticals, and chemicals require special permits.
  2. Customs Duties and Taxes: Greece has a structured tariff system. The duty rates can vary based on the product category and its origin. Personal effects and household goods are generally duty-free, but VAT is payable on goods from non-EU countries
  3. Shipping Costs: These can vary widely depending on the shipping method (air, sea, etc.) and the volume of goods.
  4. Transit Times: Shipping times can also vary. For instance, sea freight from the US to Greece typically takes about 20-30 days, while air freight is much faster but more expensive.
  5. Customs Regulations: Goods up to a certain value can be imported duty-free. For example, goods up to 430 EUR for those traveling by plane and by sea, and up to 300 EUR by land.
