      1. Determine the Type of License Required:
        • Research the specific requirements for your products on the website of relevant authorities, such as the Ministry of Commerce or Pakistan Customs.
      2. Register Your Business:
        • Ensure your business is registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP).
      3. Obtain a National Tax Number (NTN):
        • Get an NTN from the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) for tax purposes.
      4. Submit Required Documents:
        • Provide a copy of your registered business, proof of NTN registration, and a bank reference letter.
      5. Apply for the License:
        • Download the application form from the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) website and submit it along with the required documents.
      6. Pay the Fee:
        • The fee varies based on the goods you plan to trade; details can be found on the TDAP website.
      7. Wait for Approval:
        • Processing time varies, so plan accordingly

Imports

  • The importer must have a valid importer code from Customs Authorities
  • Imported goods must conform to licensed activities of the importer
  • Imported goods must be accompanied with a Bill of lading / Air Waybill, an Original Commercial Invoice, and a Packing List
  • HS Codes must be stated on the Commercial Invoice.

Import Duties and Fees

  • The customs valuation is based on CIF (Cost, Insurance and Freight) which means that the amount used to assess customs duty is the sum of cost of goods, insurance and shipping cost to Pakistan
  • Customs tariff applicable on imported goods depend on HS Codes
